Hand Carved Table 100+ yrs

This BEAUTIFUL table is about 18" tall, with the round top about 11 1/2" in diameter. It has 4 legs, even though the photo below looks like three, I was trying to photo the detail on the front legs. The table is highly ornamented with hand carved flowers and leaves, that show the marks of hand chiseling. The smooth part of the table legs show the marks of being hand planed. The table top is also ornamented with a circled border like carving. The table has a dark brown finish.

The origin, I was told by a antique furniture expert and lecturer, is China and it should be a little over 100 years old. The family it originally came from claimed it has been in their family for over 100 years. The wood has a fairly tight grain and no knots. There are no I.D. marks on it but the back upper insides of the legs have numbers on that appear to have been used to assemble the correct leg with the correct corner after it's shipment over seas.

Please note these blemishes: At one time there must have been a chip to the edge of the table top that was repaired but it was not an expert repair, as it is noticeable. On a side panel below the table top there is a wood chip on the border above two blossoms that needs repair, and a deep finish scrap, about an inch long, down to the bare wood on another side panel. One of the inside frame pieces that attaches to the bottom inside of the table top has a crack in it that follows the wood grain, only noticeable when viewed from the bottom, and doesn't seem to affect the tables sturdiness. There is a couple of red paint drops that were not cleaned off very good.

There are numerous small shallow scuff marks and scrapes to the finish on all sections and a few slightly deeper old scratches here and there, some were retouched long ago and some need a touch up currently. The table was probably at one time setting in front of a window with a doily on, as there is sun fading to the table top finish with a doily pattern. Over all though, it is still a beautiful piece, that could use some restoration work to bring it back to it's original glory.

This old funnel shows some wear but with a good cleaning, could be still useful. It's all metal with a red painted handle, and a screen inside that is still intact. The handle is almost 4" long and has paint chips. the top of the funnel is about 4 1/2" in diameter. It has a hand screw on bottom ring that supports a screen and a funnel tip. Length from to bottom of funnel is about 5 1/2". Embossing on the main body reads: "1 PT FUNNEL, FIVE ARTICLES IN ONE, STRAINER, FRUIT JAR FILLER, FUNNEL, MEASURE, DIPPER". There are also measurements for 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4, and an embossed emblem that looks like it reads "Tesco". Nice relic from great grandmas kitchen!

Old BARIER MFG Brass Heater

This is a nice old brass heater. The former retired owners remember their folks using it, they later used it to heat a little fish house. Then it sat for many, many years unused.

It is heavy with tarnish, the carry handle and mantel top is rusted, but the screening is all intact. The old round wick is still inside and should be removed and replaced with a new one. There is one dent on the bottom of the fuel tank, I don't know if it leaks there or not, as the tank is empty, but I see no holes and it has green corrosion in the area of the dent. I'll try to show it in large pic when you click on the pic at right.

The adjustment knob turns, and wording on it reads: "A. C. BARIER MFG. CO., CHICAGO, MADE IN U.S.A." The fill cap is in good shape and there is also a nice brass float with fuel gauze, which I will also picture. This fuel cap reads: "O, 1/4, 1/2 and FULL". It stands about 9" tall and bottom is about 8 1/4" in diameter. This heater would look pretty when it is cleaned up, with all its design work on it.

This old scratch awl has been around for a while and looks like it was maybe made by a carpenter. It has a point screw at one end to mark straight lines on wood. The center double block with thumb turn screw adjusts with tension to slide back and forth the distance chosen by the user for the scratch mark. Unfinished natural wood, darken by age and use, it has some cracks in the wood from age (see pics), but still can do the task it was made for. It's 9 1/2" long, 3 1/4" wide and 3" tall. Would make a nice display piece with other older carpenter tools.

About 11" long with a rod that makes a 3/8" diameter tight curl. Curling rod looks like chromed brass and in good condition. These two heavy glasses go to the buyer. They are about 4 1/8" tall with a top diameter of about 3 3/8". Both are in very good condition with no chips. Both read "The Saturday Evening Post, Norman Rockwell, Glassware Collection." One reads: "Skaters, Feb 7, 1920" with a picture of a male ice skater trying to help up a fallen female ice skater. The other reads: "Off-duty Clown, May 18, 1918" with a picture of a clown relaxing while reading a newspaper with a young country boy looking on. Unsure of age but would guess 1960's or 1970's.
